The residency programdirector has final authority in approving the Master Schedule.There are events that occur, unpredictably, that impact the Master Schedule such as illness,pregnancy, and personal problems. For such unavoidable reasons, the Master Schedule will bemodified by the Program Director in consultation with the Chief <strong>Resident</strong>, the health center, andthe Residency Coordinator using the appropriate Schedule Change Form. There may be lessserious reasons for changing the Master Schedule, which may generate a Schedule Change Formand may be considered. However, most changes are complex and will not be made.HOLIDAYS:The Mercy Family <strong>Health</strong> Center is closed on hospital holidays. Hospital call is treated asa weekend call. Mercy Medical Center observes these holidays:• New Year's Day• Martin Luther King Day• President’s Day• Memorial Day• Independence Day• Labor Day• Veteran's Day• Thanksgiving• Day after Thanksgiving• Christmas DayAs relates to call, generally the Mercy Medical Center holiday schedule dictates whichdays are considered holidays.JURY DUTYJury Duty - please refer to Mercy Medical Center Redding North State Service AreaHuman Resources Policy Manual. Copies of this manual may be located in the HumanResources Department, residency office, or on line at H:\Mercy\Redding\Manuals\HRPolicy Manual\411 Jury Duty Leave.doc. <strong>Resident</strong>s are not exempt from Jury Duty. Youmust coordinate with the Residency Office if summoned so that we can arrangeappropriate coverage.VACATIONS<strong>Resident</strong>s take vacation according to the Master Schedule, which is done by the ProgramDirector after obtaining residents’ requests and while making up the Master in order tobalance everyone’s request vs. service and FPC staffing needs.
