CLINICAL AREASCLIA OUTPATIENT LABORATORY PROFICIENCY TESTINGAll providers at MFHC are required to undergo yearly outpatient laboratory proficiency testingaccording to the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) established by USDepartment of <strong>Health</strong> and Human Services. This is accomplished during a noon conferencereview and test. Review materials are provided ahead of time.A. Service GoalsCLINIC I and CLINIC II ROTATIONSThe Clinic I and Clinic II Rotations are unique and valuable sets of ambulatory family practiceand specialty experiences scheduled at MFHC and SCHC. The general goal is to provide theresident with a hands-on, longitudinal experience in various specialty areas (Allergy, PainManagement, Colposcopy, Dermatology, Family & Community Medicine, and HIV clinic) asdefined below under the supervision of the relevant attending. The resident also develops ahigher level of involvement and responsibility for the daily operations of the FHC, seeing acuteadd-on patients, participating in office management, ancillary services, review of patient carestudies, and process improvement.B. Service DescriptionThe Clinic I (C1) rotations occur once in the PGY II and PGY III years. The Clinic II (C2)rotation occurs twice in the PGY II year. (See the Specialty Clinic descriptions under section D).Each month, the C1 & C2 clinic schedule may vary slightly, so the resident must consult thepublished schedule.WARFARIN PROTOCOLAll patients having their warfarin anticoagulation therapy managed at MFHC will be enrolled ina management program to assure proper use and monitoring of this medication.Providers will refer these patients to the nursing staff who will take the following actions:1.
