Significant training continues during second and third years of residency whenresidents spend two blocks, four weeks each on the C1 Clinic Doc Rotation. Onthis rotation, the resident is responsible for all specialty clinics in addition toseeing their continuity patients. <strong>Resident</strong>s must also review and triage daily labresults and prescription requests for all of the other residents, determining theappropriate follow-up, and making sure prescriptions are appropriately refilled forpatients seen by residents on away electives or vacation.An orientation to this rotation is provided by the Clinic Medical Director, SteveNamihas, MD. This includes a review of Clinic Doc responsibilities and ways tocoordination of care with the clinic staff and specialty physicians. Dr. Namihasalso performs a lab audit during this rotation to assure the quality of care providedby the C1 clinic doc and provide feedback as needed.cClinic Quality Improvement Project (C2 rotation)<strong>Resident</strong>s will engage in a three hour quality improvement training using anonline tool, called Metric. This program developed by the AAFP focuses onimproving care for patients with chronic disease.5. Community <strong>Health</strong> <strong>System</strong>s Management Training and Practice Site Evaluationa. Each resident will perform a thorough investigation and evaluation of at least onepractice site typically during their practice management rotation (C1) using thePractice Site Evaluation instrument. While doing this, residents will learn toidentify the key components of a practice and community health system. Theyare also encouraged to use this tool when evaluating a practice that they areconsidering for a future job or during their rural rotation. (More information onthe Practice Management Rotation is found below. Information on job interviewscan be found under the Job Interview section found under the heading ElectiveRotations.)b.
