Hospital Leadership Training<strong>Resident</strong>s will also get additional leadership training while serving in one of theleadership positions or hospital committees listed below. <strong>Resident</strong>s are expectedto participate in at least four meetings during their residency training.i. <strong>Resident</strong> Leadership (i.e. Chief <strong>Resident</strong>, <strong>UC</strong>D Conference PlanningCommittee)ii. Hospital or Medical Staff Committees (Medical Executive Committee,Medical Division Committee, Quality Assurance Committee, EthicsCommittee, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Family PracticeResidency Committee, Utilization Review Committee, CME committee,etc)Page 71 of 153b. Community Leadership TrainingDuring their community medicine rotation, residents work with the county Public<strong>Health</strong> Officer learning various aspects of health in the community. They alsohave the opportunity to participate in a variety of public health communityprojects such as tobacco cessation, or STD education. <strong>Resident</strong>s are encouraged tospeak to community groups on health education topics.8. Academic Advisor Meeting and Analysis of Clinic Productivity Reports<strong>Resident</strong>s will demonstrate progress in completion of duties and mastery of skills in themanagement of health systems during their bi-annual faculty advisor meetings. Anacademic advisor assigned for each resident will summarize the meeting using theacademic counseling form. This will include the following:a Review of rotation specific evaluations to assess clinical competenciesb Assessment of diligence in maintaining medical recordsc Review of opportunities for future practiced Completion of required documents for medical licensureefReview of procedure trainingAnalysis of FMC reports regarding individual and practice productivity andfinancial performanceg Review of patient continuity for individual resident, including number of OBpatients deliveredh Review of Leadership Training experience9. Management of <strong>Health</strong> <strong>System</strong>s Didactic TrainingaManagement of <strong>Health</strong> <strong>System</strong>s Lectures<strong>Resident</strong>s receive at least 4 hours of lectures each year on a variety of practicemanagement topics, including professionalism, malpractice, evaluation ofcontracts, preparing for a job interview, billing and coding, and providingfeedback to co-workers.b MC StrategiesThis five-hour online educational program for residents and faculty is requiredevery two years and covers a number of issues including the following:C:\Documents and Settings\dhutak\Desktop\rshb13.doc
