Georges Henri, 451B-1200 Bruxelles – BelgiqueProgramme Management Unit (PMU)Chaussée de la Hulpe, 1501170 Bruxelles - BelgiqueFax: +32 (0) 2 792 49 06Email: questions@acpcultures.euWebsitehttp://www.acpcultures.eu/?lang=ukPurpose and program areasThe general objective of the Programme is to contribute to poverty reduction and susta<strong>in</strong>abledevelopment through the promotion of an enabl<strong>in</strong>g environment <strong>for</strong> creativity, cooperation andexchanges, <strong>in</strong>dependence and viability of the cultural sector <strong>in</strong> the <strong>ACP</strong> States, as well as thesafeguard<strong>in</strong>g of cultural diversity and fundamental cultural values.It aims at re<strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>c<strong>in</strong>g the capacities of policy and decision makers, cultural operators and certa<strong>in</strong>doma<strong>in</strong>s of culture and cultural <strong>in</strong>dustries <strong>in</strong> the <strong>ACP</strong> countries, and is structured around threecomplementary components: The establishment of an <strong>ACP</strong> <strong>Cultural</strong> Observatory as a mechanism <strong>for</strong> provid<strong>in</strong>g technicaladvice and <strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation <strong>in</strong> order to improve the policy, legal, and <strong>in</strong>stitutional frameworks of thesector; An <strong>ACP</strong>/ILO/UNCTAD/UNESCO jo<strong>in</strong>t project to strengthen the creative <strong>in</strong>dustries <strong>in</strong> 5 selected<strong>ACP</strong> countries (Fiji, Mozambique, Senegal, Tr<strong>in</strong>idad and Tobago and Zambia), implementedby the UN agencies; A grant scheme seek<strong>in</strong>g to re<strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>ce the technical, f<strong>in</strong>ancial and managerial capacities of <strong>ACP</strong>cultural operators and cultural <strong>in</strong>dustries.<strong>Fund<strong>in</strong>g</strong> sourcesThe EU-<strong>ACP</strong> support programme to cultural <strong>in</strong>dustries <strong>in</strong> <strong>ACP</strong> countries is funded by the EuropeanCommission, and managed and implemented by the Secretariat of the African, Caribbean and PacificGroup of States (<strong>ACP</strong>).Eligible countriesIt is open to the 79 African, Caribbean and Pacific (<strong>ACP</strong>) Group of States and the European UnionMember States that are signatories to the 9th European Development Fund (EDF).Who can receive a grant?The program is open to both private sector organizations and NGOs. The public sector, as well asnon <strong>ACP</strong>/UE organizations, can participate as associates, but may not benefit from the subsidy.20
