It <strong>in</strong>itiates andcollaborates <strong>in</strong> conferences, workshops, exhibitions, festivals, websites, tickets and networks.The Pr<strong>in</strong>ce Claus Fund’s objective is to <strong>in</strong>crease cultural awareness and to promote exchangebetween culture and development. The Fund regards the <strong>in</strong>teraction between culture anddevelopment as the confirmation of culture’s <strong>in</strong>tegral role <strong>in</strong> development processes.<strong>Fund<strong>in</strong>g</strong> sourcesThe M<strong>in</strong>istry of Foreign Affairs is the Fund’s ma<strong>in</strong> source of f<strong>in</strong>ance.Eligible countriesAfrica, Asia, Lat<strong>in</strong> America and the Caribbean.Types of grant supportThe Pr<strong>in</strong>ce Claus Fund:• Supports <strong>in</strong>novative cultural <strong>in</strong>itiatives that contribute to development through its ApplicationsProgram. Both organisations and <strong>in</strong>dividuals are supported <strong>in</strong> terms of numerous <strong>for</strong>ms ofexchange, activities and publications;• Presents awards <strong>in</strong> recognition of exceptional achievements <strong>in</strong> the areas of culture anddevelopment;• Saves cultural heritage that has been devastated by man-made or natural disasters through its<strong>Cultural</strong> Emergency Response (CER) Program;• Enters <strong>in</strong>to susta<strong>in</strong>able relations that are based on mutual respect, equality and trust throughits Network Partnership Program. Experiences are exchanged and mutual networksexpanded;• Contributes to the debate on culture and development through publications and activities thatthe Fund either supports or organises. These <strong>in</strong> turn <strong>in</strong>crease the awareness of its objectivesand raise the profiles of the <strong>in</strong>dividuals and organisations that the Fund supports.Grant sizeIn 2010 the Fund spent the follow<strong>in</strong>g per programme: €1,091,236 on Awards, €292,660 onKnowledge Centre, €1,163,213 on <strong>Cultural</strong> Emergency Response, €1,555,291 on Applications and€532.108 on Network Partnerships.42
