Uranium ore-forming systems of the Lake Frome regionLocality 13 (355368E ; 6665889N) Four Mile ThrustThere is no track to this locality and a 30 minute hike is required from the Arkaroola-Wooltanaboundary track a few kilometers north of Four Mile Creek. This site features a dramatic example of young tectonic thrust faulting on the northern side of asmall creek on the range front.Further interpretation of this area is required as a recent re-examination suggests Proterozoicbasement thrust over mottled Eyre Formation and poorly consolidated Willawortina Formation.Célérier (Célérier, 2002), however, interprets the footwall of the structure to be entirelyWillawortina Formation with the matrix composed of kaolinite and quartz sand, and the mottlesdefined by variations in abundance of red-brown hematite. Overlying the WillawortinaFormation sediments is a wedge of modern red hill scree covering parts of the outcrop. Thehangingwall of the outcrop is a complex feature, within which there are several reverse faultswith varying orientations consisting of Eyre Formation and Neoproterozoic Paralana Quartzite.Page 138 of 151
