104 www.nasuwt.org.ukStrategies include the following actions and should be in placein every school:2 an agreed directed time budget and calendar ofmeetings for the year;2 no ‘pre’ Ofsted inspections and the related redrafting ofpolicy statements, etc.;2 work for real Ofsted inspections is limited to that requiredin the Ofsted framework;2 a maximum of one meeting per week for teachers not onthe leadership spine, and for others an agreedreasonable number;2 meetings are a maximum of one hour, with publishedagendas, and are effectively chaired;2 parental consultation meetings are a maximum of oneper year group taught and counted against the weeklytotal of meetings;2 open evenings are voluntary but if attended countagainst directed time and the weekly total of meetings;2 planning is simple and streamlined;2 teachers use published schemes of work and lessonplans where they deem them appropriate. Requests forthe submission of schemes of work and lesson plans arelimited to a maximum of once per term. There are noexcessive demands to report back on lessons;2 pupil reports are made once per year. Unless computergenerated, reports have a maximum length of 400 wordswith a 40-word maximum for individual subjects;2 documents are reviewed to consider their value, lengthand method of production.Teachers working in academies, free schools and independentschools will need to refer to the relevant policies, proceduresand contractual entitlements in operation at their school.For advice and help ˚ Local Association ˚ Regional Centre ˚ National Executive
