SomeITT students, for example distance learning students, may not have been approached atuniversity.Graduate Teacher Programmes/Graduate and Registered Teacher ProgrammesThere is an increase in work-based routes to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). These potentialmembers are based in schools and have not been exposed to any of the traditional ITTrecruitment events that the <strong>NASUWT</strong> attends. It is therefore vital that <strong>NASUWT</strong><strong>Representatives</strong> approach these members in order to recruit them to the Union. Thesemembers receive the benefits of full membership completely free of charge during the timethat they are training and then qualify for the same subscription offers as all other newlyqualified teachers.l Full subscriptions can be paid monthly, quarterly or annually by direct debit or by creditcard by simply telephoning the Membership Team on 0121 457 6211 (see the <strong>NASUWT</strong>website, www.nasuwt.org.uk, for current subscription rates).l Members paying subscription by direct debit get extra benefits.l Part-time teachers on 60% contracts or less pay half the subscription and those on 30%or less pay only 25%. Both concessions enjoy full membership benefits.l Lapsed members returning to the <strong>NASUWT</strong> are required to pay a minimal administrationfee and are not covered for the time during which they did not pay subscriptions.l Tax relief is available on subscriptions. Contact your local tax office, quoting your NationalInsurance number or your Tax Reference Number.
