TIGARD PARK SYSTEM MASTER PLAN UPDATEAdditional Park Features to ConsiderConsideration should be given for trail location, connections andorientation should encourage user to walk or bicycle to the trail; parkingfor particular trailheads; loop and interconnect trails to provide a varietyof trail lengths and destinations; standard trail signs with informationregarding trail conditions and degrees of difficulty; access to drinkingwater at trailheads; and benches or other places to sit with thought tolocate them near scenic viewpoints or overlooks.Park Features to AvoidActive recreation facilities and facilities that do not directly supportoutdoor recreation and trail-oriented recreation should not be included,such as ornamental plants, lawns, and active recreation facilities.Site SelectionTrail systems should be coordinated with the City of Tigard’s PathwayPlan to create a pedestrian and bicycle system that connects allcomponents of the park system and major community destinations. Thetrail system should provide access for people with disabilities andaccommodate diverse recreational needs.
