Other operationsincluded attacking pillboxes alongthe coast of Normandy on D-Day (6 Jun1g44), and afterward striking interdictorytargets behind the beachhead; bombingenemy positions at St Lo during the Alliedbreakthrough in Jul1g44; hauling oil andgasoline to Allied forces advancing acrossFrance in Sep; hitting German communicationsand transportation during theBattle of the Bulge, Dec 1g44-Jan 1945;and bombing the airfield at Nordhorn insupport of the airborne assault across theRhine on 24 Mar 1945. Flew last combatmission on 25 Apr 1945, striking a transformerstation at Traunstein. Returnedto the US in Jul. Redesignated 466thBombardment Group (Very Heavy) inAug 1945. Trained with B-29’s.
