Rohan was arrested, put to trial, found insane, <strong>and</strong> sentback to Australia to spend his life in a mental institution. 52Since <strong>the</strong> 1970s, a number of Christian premillennialist organizations,groups, <strong>and</strong> individuals have taken active stepsintended toward <strong>the</strong> building of <strong>the</strong> holy Jewish shrine. Most of<strong>the</strong>m centered on helping Jews, who like <strong>the</strong>m refused to accept<strong>the</strong> Israeli policy <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> status quo, to prepare for <strong>the</strong> buildingof <strong>the</strong> Temple. Some of <strong>the</strong>se groups were advocating <strong>the</strong>iragenda publicly, while o<strong>the</strong>rs were preparing more quietly for<strong>the</strong> reinstatement of <strong>the</strong> sacrificial system in a rebuilt Temple. 53Such Jews were studying <strong>the</strong> Temple rituals, manufacturingutensils to be used for sacrificial purposes according to biblicalor Talmudic measures, or trying to develop a new breed ofheifers. Christian premillennialists marveled at such groups <strong>and</strong><strong>the</strong>ir activities, viewing <strong>the</strong>m as “signs of <strong>the</strong> time,” indicationsthat <strong>the</strong> current era was ending <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> apocalyptic events of <strong>the</strong>end times were coming near. 54 The Temple Institute, a museum<strong>and</strong> workshop in <strong>the</strong> Old City of Jerusalem that has housedutensils <strong>and</strong> artifacts <strong>and</strong> was reconstructed since <strong>the</strong> 1970s byJewish advocates of <strong>the</strong> building of <strong>the</strong> Temple, has become asite of pilgrimage for Christian advocates of <strong>the</strong> second coming.Christians expecting <strong>the</strong> second coming have been encouragedby <strong>the</strong> sight of Jews conscientiously preparing <strong>the</strong> implementsfor use in <strong>the</strong> Third Temple, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> visits have served toenhance <strong>the</strong> messianic faith. 55One of <strong>the</strong> Jewish groups that have established a working relationshipwith premillennialist Christians over <strong>the</strong> mutual agendaof rebuilding <strong>the</strong> Temple is <strong>the</strong> Temple Mount Faithful.
