Remote ControlTable 3–2: Definition of bits in the Status Byte Register (Cont.)Bit No.6DefinitionMSS Bit (Master-Status-Summary-Bit)This bit is set if the instrument causes a service request. This is the case if one ofthe other bits of this register is set together with its mask bit in the Service RequestEnable Register SRE.ÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁ7 ÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁOPERation ÁÁÁÁ Status Register Summary BitÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁThis bit is set if an EVENt bit is set in the OPERation Status Register and theassociated ENABle bit is set to 1. A set bit denotes that an action is just beingperformed by the instrument. Information on the type of action can be obtained byquerying the OPERation Status Register.ÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁIST Flag and Parallel Poll Enable Register (PPE). Similar to the SRQ, the IST flagcombines the complete status information in a single bit. It can be queried byParallel Poll (see page 3–27) or by *IST?.The Parallel Poll Enable Register (PPE) determines which bits of the STB affectthe IST flag. The bits of the STB are ANDed with the corresponding bits of thePPE, bit 6 – in contrast to the SRE – being used too. The IST flag is obtained byORing all results together. The PPE can be set by the command *PRE and readby the query *PRE?.Event Status Register (ESR) and Event Status Enable Register (ESE). The ESR isalready defined in the IEEE 488.2 standard. It is comparable to the EVENtregister of an SCPI register. The Event Status Register can be read out by thequery *ESR?.The ESE forms the associated ENABle register. It can be set by the command*ESE and read out by the query *ESE?.Table 3–3: Definition of bits used in the Event Status RegisterBit No. DefinitionÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁ0 Operation CompleteÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁUpon reception of the *OPC command this bit is set when all previous commandshave been executed.ÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁ2ÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁQuery ErrorThis bit is set if the controller wants to read data from the instrument but has notsent a data request command, or if the controller does not fetch the requested databut sends instead a new command to the instrument.
