Kerry Kavanagh – nominated by the South Australian GovernmentDip Teach BEd PhDDr Kerry Kavanagh is Director, Workforce Development, for the SouthAustralian Department of Education and Children’s Services, where sheis responsible for leading South Australia’s reforms on teacher andleadership quality and workforce development initiatives for schoolsupport staff. Dr Kavanagh’s extensive experience in education includeswork as a classroom teacher and as a school principal. She has workedcurriculum writer. She counts an Australian Research Scholarship among the grants andscholarships she has received and has represented the department in internationalforums. She is a member of the South Australian Voices of Women Board and TeacherEducation Taskforce. She was awarded her PhD in 2004.Patrick Lee – nominated by the New South Wales GovernmentBTh BA GradDipEd MEdStPatrick Lee was appointed Chief Executive of the NSW Institute ofManager, Initial Teacher Education and Professional Learning, at theNSW Institute of Teachers. He is a former advisor to the NSW Ministerfor Education and Training and has held various roles in the IndependentGeoffrey Newcombe – nominated by the Independent SchoolsCouncil of AustraliaBSc DipEd MEdAdmin PhD GAICDDr Geoffrey Newcombe has been Executive Director of the Associationpreviously been AIS Director of School Governance and IndustrialRelations. Dr Newcombe began teaching in 1969 and has extensiveschool governance and management experience, having been headand business manager in a number of independent schools in the past25 years. In 2007 Dr Newcombe established the Independent Schools TeacherAccreditation Authority to help raise the professional status of teachers in the NSWand ACT independent sectors.
