InnovationAITSL is building a strong and credible reputation as being forward thinking, highlyconsultative and committed to excellence. This is an important platform from whichto build a culture of strategic innovation designed to achieve excellence throughimprovement and transformation across the Australian education landscape ofprofessional practice. AITSL is committed to developing and modelling powerfulAITSL’s commitment to innovation is driving new opportunities to support practices thatwill transform teaching and school leadership across Australia. Through projects thatchallenge boundaries, infuse technology and highlight exemplary practice, AITSL ismodeling to the profession new possibilities and ways to think differently about how toachieve success.Teacher Feature is an interactive online exchange for teaching professionals to sharetheir thinking and explore motivations in their work. Created to inspire excellence, this sitecurrently has uploaded examples of shared insights from practicing teachers.The Australian Awards’ Professional Learning Sabbaticals have created outstandingopportunities for online interaction with award winners as they investigate new ideas foracross the profession.Leading Curriculum Change was highlighted at the National Biennial Education Forumas an example of a national innovative model in professional learning delivery. Theonline design enables access to educators to have national professional conversations,user-friendly accessibility. Over 2000 educators are currently enrolled as participants.AITSL has created and continues to add to the Illustrations of Practice, an online bank ofauthentic examples of teaching practice aligned to the National Professional Standards forTeachers (the Standards). The Illustrations of Practice bring the Standards to life and area valuable resource for use in multiple contexts for practicing teachers and leaders. Theyoffer a diverse insight into how the Standards look in practice and set benchmarks ofexpectation for high quality teaching practice in diverse contexts from across Australia.46 AITSL Annual Report 2011–2012
