<strong>The</strong> signs <strong>of</strong> illness <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> mice <strong>in</strong>fected with ∆PAPI-1, ∆PAPI-2 and <strong>the</strong> wild-type,<br />

PA14 were not too dissimilar at <strong>the</strong> 18 hours post-<strong>in</strong>fection. <strong>The</strong> only significant<br />

difference between PA14 and one its isogenic mutants was seen with <strong>the</strong> double<br />

knockout, ∆PAPI-1∆PAPI-2, where mice were demonstrat<strong>in</strong>g little or no signs <strong>of</strong><br />

illness at 18 hours.<br />
