On Life at Home

Calling all Supermoms ! Guess what…you
don’t have to worry about keeping that superpower
cape all clean, pressed and ready to wear.
Feel free to hang it up, send it out to the cleaners
or donate it to a children’s theater group.
If you’re anything like me, you may have often
felt like a substandard model of the Supermom
for which too many of us feel compelled to strive.
I’ve even battered myself with what the word of
God says. For example, the scripture in Proverbs
31:27 which says, “ The virtuous woman looks well
to the ways of her household...” Yes indeed, it’s
a good word, but there are those days when you
are wanting, with all of your might, to “look well
to the ways of your household” but you find yourself
facing a camouflage-shrouded mine field. You
have no idea which way to go.
That was my lot in life on more days than I can
count while my children were young and growing
up. I had always desired to be a stay-at-home
mother who could be at home to greet my kids with
snacks when they came home from school…to be
the Kool-Aid mom of the neighborhood. However,
as things turned out, I was to be a working mom
for all of their growing up years.
