GEAR UP Mississippi Scholarships (GUMS)GEAR UP Mississippi Scholarships are available to students who participated in the GEAR UP Mississippi programduring high school. GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federallyfunded grant program that seeks to provide counseling, mentoring, tutoring, and other support services to participatingstudents. Scholarship recipients are awarded up to $5,000 per award year, dependent upon the availability of funds, therecipient’s remaining demonstrated financial need and the number of eligible renewal recipients. To be eligible,students must have received the scholarship first as a freshman. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and full-timeenrollment in an approved Mississippi college or university.
