Pay attention toyour specific concentration for these details.• Teacher education concentration needs two diversity classes, one math class, andone specific reading content class for Ohio licensure. Pay attention to these details.ConcentrationsGeneral Physical Education Major: Please note that some of the following listed courses haveprerequisites. Courses needed: PE 0122, PE 114, PE 140, PE 141, PE 231, PE 260, (PE 343 or PE363), PE 499, ZOOL 251, (one from PSYC 210, MATH 105 or MATH 260): and four additionalcourses from PE 100.1, PE 200.2, PE 286, PE 300.1, PE 300.4, PE 300.7, (P.E. 300.8 and P.E.300.9), PE 343, PE 345, PE 352, PE 355, PE 363, PE 365, and PE 395 or PE 495. All candidatesmust also be certified in CPR and First Aid before completing PE 260, and it is the student’sresponsibility to maintain certification through graduation. All candidates must successfullycomplete the established gateways for the general concentration in the Physical Education major.Sports and Physical Activity Management Concentration: This area of concentration preparesthe student for opportunities in a variety of fields that combine physical/sport activity with otherareas such as sport management, marketing, retail, and corporate fitness. Please note that some ofthe following courses have prerequisites. Courses needed: PE 0122, PE 114, (PE 140 or PE 141),PE 231, PE 260, (PE 100.1, PE 343 or PE 363), PE 200.2, PE 300.7, PE 495 (Facility and GameManagement at OWU), PE 499, ACCT 217, ECON 110 (C- or better), EMAN 210 (C- orbetter). Choose 3 from EMAN 264, EMAN 300.6, EMAN 320, EMAN 340, EMAN 361, EMAN363, EMAN 365, EMAN 376, EMAN 400.1, ENG 310, ACCT 348. All candidates must alsobe certified in CPR and First Aid before completing PE 260, and it is the student’s responsibilityto maintain certification through graduation. (With this concentration, students cannot earn amanagement minor.) All candidates must successfully complete the established gateways for themanagement concentration in the Physical Education major.Sports Science Concentration: This area of concentration prepares the student for advancedstudy in the fields of physical therapy, athletic training, exercise physiology, biomechanics, sportpsychology, and allied health professions like physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursepractitioner, or physician assistant. Please note that some of the following listed courses haveprerequisites. Courses needed: PE 0122, PE 114, PE 140, PE 141, PE 231, PE 260, PE 345, PE352, PE 355, PE 365, PE 395 or PE 495, PE 499, (ZOOL 100.5 or 120 or CHEM 110, withC- or better to continue in concentration), ZOOL 251 (C- or better), ZOOL 325, (PSYC 210,MATH 105, or MATH 260); and one additional course from PE 270, PE 300.1, PE 300.4, (PE300.8 and PE 300.9), PE 343, PE 363, MATH 110, PHYS 110, PHYS 111, PHYS 115, PHYS116, CHEM 110, CHEM 111, PSYC 243, PSYC 343, PSYC 310, ZOOL 331, or ZOOL 333.All candidates must also be certified in CPR and First Aid before completing PE 260, and it isthe student’s responsibility to maintain certification through graduation. All candidates mustsuccessfully complete the established gateways for the sports science concentration in the PhysicalEducation major.216
