Her activities included being a two-year starter for theCowley Lady Tiger softball team.Shoup second nationallyin VICA Skills contestYCarroll Shoup of Arkansas City took secondplace in the Post-Secondary Division ofthe Aviation Maintenance Technology contestduring the 35th annual Skills USAChampionships held July 2, 1999, in KansasCity, Mo.Shoup was among the approximately3,800 outstanding technical students whojoined in the excitement of hands-on competitionin 68 different trade, technical, and leadershipfields.Working against the clock and eachother, the participants proved their expertisein job skills occupations such as electronics,technical drafting, precision machining, medicalassisting, and culinary arts. There alsowere competitions in leadership skills, such asextemporaneous speaking and conductingmeetings by parliamentary procedures.VICA is the national organization forstudents in trade, industrial, technical andhealth occupations education.
