The previous recordFTE semester occurred in thefallof 1997 when 2,079.72 FTEwere recorded.The college also set arecord for on-campus enrollmentin the fall with 1,043 students.That's 4 percent morethan the fall of 1998.Off-campus enrollmentincreased 8 percent over thefall of 1998.The surge in on-campusenrollment filled Cowley'sthree dormitories and forcedstorage space to be cleanedand used for classroom space.In spring 2000, there were2,095.11 FTE, compared to1,912.77 in spring 1999.Some other statistics inSmith's fall report:There were 1,415 fulltimeand 2,058 part-time studentsenrolled in the fall of2000. Of that total number,404 were high school students,1,661 were freshmen, 901 weresophomores, and 507 were inthe special category. Thatincludes business and industrytraining.•The Southside EducationCenter in Wichita continues tobe the fastest-growing site forthe college. In the fall of 2000,Southside's FTE stood at442.70, a 45-percent increaseover the fall of 1998.•There were 904 CowleyCounty residents registered forclasses in the fall of 2000,including 510 from ArkansasCity and 297 from Winfield.•Students representing 50Kansas counties were enrolledfor fall2000.
