『 一 隻 手 袋 敘 述 著 一 種 特 定 的 文 化 、 歷 史 和 時 尚 。 當
手 袋 沒 有 品 牌 的 時 候 , 人 們 看 重 的 是 設 計 、 材 料 和 靈
感 。 現 在 品 牌 概 念 已 經 變 得 很 重 要 了 , 幾 乎 所 有 的 品
牌 都 歸 屬 於 一 個 大 的 投 資 集 團 , 為 了 取 悅 年 輕 人 , 他
們 啟 用 了 新 一 代 設 計 師 , 替 代 了 老 的 品 牌 家 族 。 因

您 如 何 評 價 一 個 手 袋 的 價 值 ?
『 這 要 看 手 袋 的 歷 史 、 材 料 和 工 藝 。16 世 紀 的 手 袋 是
很 昂 貴 的 , 因 為 人 們 很 難 在 市 場 上 找 到 他 們 了 。 至 於

Sigrid 在 博 物 館 展 出 的 手 袋 只 是 她 家 族 收 藏 的 三 分 之

們 專 注 於 設 計 背 後 的 故 事 。 我 喜 歡 尋 找 故 事 之 間 的 連
接 , 手 袋 之 間 的 關 係 。 它 也 許 是 和 我 已 收 藏 的 手 袋 是
同 時 期 的 , 也 可 以 是 更 早 期 的 手 袋 , 因 為 它 們 都 可 能
是 後 期 手 袋 設 計 靈 感 的 來 源 。』
您 認 為 什 麼 是 收 藏 手 袋 的 關 鍵 ?
『 作 為 博 物 館 館 長 , 我 收 藏 手 袋 與 私 人 收 藏 家 不 同 。
我 知 道 有 些 收 藏 家 喜 歡 珠 子 , 有 的 喜 歡 品 牌 等 。 有 一
對 義 大 利 夫 婦 曾 經 對 我 說 , 他 們 收 集 我 收 集 的 一 切 ,
我 覺 得 很 有 趣 。 我 認 為 對 於 收 藏 者 來 說 , 最 重 要 的 是
激 情 和 渴 望 , 他 們 想 挖 掘 出 收 藏 品 背 後 的 故 事 。』
Do you have a personal favorite among all of your bags?
“In the 20s, people experimented with different new
materials and the style shifts from classic to modern.
This bag is from the 1930s, and was very modern at
that time.
– very tight design. It is a very beautiful aluminum
bag with a layer of plastic. It represented the changes
of a new era in a beautiful way.”
So it embodies the changes of the beginning of the 20th
century?
“Yes. That’s why the 19th century and the beginning
of the 20th century is so interesting. The development
of the bag material went so fast. From tortoiseshell to
plastic, and from ivory to aluminum. And in the 20th
century, when there was the women´s emancipation,
the function of the bag changed. The designer brands
also emerged around that time. The first Chanel bags
were released in the 20s and 30s, and after WWII you
start to see Dior and Yves Saint Laurent.”

Do you think the meaning of the handbag has changed
since then?
“A bag tells about a certain culture, history, and fashion.
When the bag used to be brand-less, people looked
more to the design, material, and the inspiration.
Now the brand has become important. Today, almost
all brands belong to a big investment group, and they
have replaced the designer families with young designers
to appeal to the younger generation. So the
bag as a fashion accessory has become very important
for the designer brands today.”
How do you assess a bag’s value?
“The combination of a bag’s age, material, and craftsmanship.
Bags from the 16th century are expensive
because people can hardly find them on the market
anymore. As for the craftsmanship, a small bag made
with beads can be a few thousand euros.”
Sigrid exhibits in the museum only one third of her family
collection, but hopes to one day find a space to showcase
all the 5000+ bags and create a study center for designers
and artists.
What kind of bags are you looking for right now?
“My parents were collecting what they liked and
thought as beautiful. They focused on the stories behind
the designs. I’m looking for certain connections,
a link between the bags. Maybe a bag that is from the
same time period as some of my other bags, or a very
ancient bag that has inspired modern bag designs.”
What is the key to collecting bags?
“As the director of the museum, I collect differently
from private collectors. I know some collectors who
like beads, some like brands, etc. A couple from Italy
once said to me that they collect everything I collect.
That was very funny. I think the most important thing
for collectors is to collect out of passion and to find the
stories behind the items.”
