Guido Henchel von Donnersmarck
– For His First Wife
Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck was the rich
son of a privileged European family and a loving
husband. Guido deeply loved his fist wife, Pauline
Therese Lachmann, better known as La Paiva,
and has throughout their marriage, given her
numerous one-of-a-kind jewelry, including a triple-strand
diamond necklace previously owned by
the deposed French empress, Eugénie de Montijo.

The most impressive gift Guido gave his first wife
was two great yellow diamonds, later known as the
famous Donnersmarck Diamonds. The Donnersmarck
Diamonds are a pair of yellow diamonds
that were mounted on a pendant in a traditional
European style. The first diamond, a pear-shaped
yellow diamond, is 82.48-carat and the second is a
102.54-carat cushion cut yellow diamond.
