頓 (Richard Burton) 贈 送 給 妻 子 伊 麗 莎 白 · 泰 勒
(Elizabeth Taylor) 的 第 一 件 愛 情 信 物 。 據 伊 麗
莎 白 表 示 , 那 是 她 與 理 查 德 打 乒 乓 球 贏 下 的 禮
物 。 當 時 , 克 拉 珀 鑽 在 紐 約 的 購 買 價 為 38.5 萬 美
金 ,2011 年 這 枚 鑽 戒 在 佳 士 得 拍 賣 行 (Christie's)

1969 年 , 另 一 顆 名 鑽 在 紐 約 拍 賣 。 拍 賣 進 行 時 , 理

贏 了 。』 後 來 這 枚 鑽 石 被 命 名 為 泰 勒 伯 頓 鑽 石 ,
以 110 萬 美 金 從 卡 迪 亞 公 司 買 下 。 目 前 這 顆 69 克 拉
的 鑽 石 的 估 價 約 620 萬 美 金 。

The Krupp Diamond is regarded as one of the most
flawless diamonds in the world. This 33-carat ring
was the first of many love tokens given to Elizabeth
Taylor from Burton. According to Elizabeth,
it was a prize for beating Richard at ping-pong.
The Krupp Diamond was acquired in NY at the cost
of $385,000 US dollars at the time. In 2011, the
ring was on sale at Christie’s and realized at $8.8m
US dollars.
Later on, in 1969, Taylor´s collection grew to include
a 69-carat pear-shaped sparkler, bought
for $1.1m US dollars. Today, it is estimated to be
$6.2m US dollars.
At the auction, Burton was the underbidder when
the jewelers Cartier bought the diamond for
$1,050,000. Burton’s lawyer, Jim Benton, called
Burton after the auction to tell him that he had
been outbid. According to Burton’s diary, he could
not accept the reality. Burton wrote, “I turned into
a raving maniac and insisted that he get Aaron on
the phone as soon as possible. Elizabeth was as
sweet as only she could be and protested that it
didn’t matter, that she didn’t mind if she didn’t
have it, that there was much more in life than baubles,
that she would manage with what she had.
The inference was that she would make do. But
not me! I was going to get that diamond if it cost
me my life or 2 million dollars whichever was the
greater. For 24 hours the agony persisted and in
the end I won. I got the bloody thing.” The diamond
was subsequently named the “Taylor-Burton
Diamond”.
