6. Starting the Diesel Hammer<br />
6.6 Bringing the Diesel Pile Hammer and pile helmet into operating position<br />
Observe the operating instructions of the carrier equipment.<br />
Equipment to tie down any and all equipment being transported shall be provided by the transport company<br />
and be of such to prevent movement of equipment or damage. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that<br />
is required to perform any and all work shall be provided by your employer to safely perform this task. Make<br />
sure to read 1926.106 (a) (b) (c) (d) when working over or near water.<br />
6.6.1 Placing the Diesel Hammer in swinging lead – lead laying on the ground<br />
• Diesel Pile Hammers up to the D62 can be equipped with channel guiding<br />
• The hammer must be slid in the lead from one side<br />
• Before raising up the lead the starting device and the hammer lifting ears must be connected to the<br />
crane hoist line<br />
6.6.2 Placing the Diesel Hammer in an offshore lead – lead laying on the ground<br />
• When setting the hammer into the lead pay particular attention to slide the lead guiding carrier and the<br />
hammer complete to the guiding bell to prevent uncontrolled sliding when raising the hammer and lead<br />
system to upright position<br />
• After setting the hammer into the lead the backside guiding brackets must be bolted on<br />
