Deliver High Quality, High Performance HEVC via Intel® Media Server Studio
Table 6A Encoding Speed of UHD4K test set on Media Server Studio HEVC Software Codec in TU1, TU4, and
TU7 modes. For reference the average Speed of HM14 Encoder for this test set is .004 fps.
* For average encoder speed calculation, for all TU’s Nebuta_Festival is excluded as its size is 2560x1600 while
others are of size 4K (3840x2160).
Table 6B Encoding Speed of HD1080p test set on Media Server Studio HEVC Software Codec in TU1, TU4, and
TU7 modes. For reference the average speed of HM14 Encoder for this test set is .015 fps.
In comparing these results on E5 compared to i7 4770k configuration for which measurements were
shown earlier in Table 3A and 3B, we observe that for UHD4K test set, the speed gain factor of the E5
configuration over the i7 4770k configuration is 3.5, 3.3, and 3.0 for TU1, TU4, and TU7 respectively. The
same comparison for HD1080p test set shows that the speed gain factor of the E5 configuration over the
i7 4770k configuration is 2.1, 2.2, and 2.4 for TU1, TU4, and TU7 respectively.
A side-by-side comparison on E5 of actual encoding speed in fps of TU1, TU4, TU7, both for UHD4K and
HD1080p test sets is shown in Figure 11B.
