• Nearly half of young people in Scotland (45%) suffered at least one<br />
medically-treated injury in the past 12 months (50% of boys and 40% of girls)<br />
• Among boys, there has been a gradual decrease in the likelihood of injury<br />
since 2002<br />
• 46% of boys report that they were doing a sports or recreational activity<br />
when their most serious injury happened<br />
• Most commonly, girls that have been injured report that they were at home<br />
when their most serious injury happened (29%)<br />
• Nearly half (46%) of those that report being injured in the past year, required<br />
hospital treatment for their most serious injury<br />
• At age 15, injured boys are more likely than injured girls to have required<br />
hospital treatment (51% versus 38%)<br />
