2014 SURVEY IN SCOTLAND <strong>NATIONAL</strong> REPORT<br />

• At age 15, 27% of girls and 24% of boys in Scotland report that<br />

they have had sexual intercourse<br />

• Between 2010 and 2014, there was a decline in the proportion<br />

of girls that report having had sex (from 35% to 27%)<br />

• Of those 15-year olds that report having had sexual intercourse,<br />

24% report having first intercourse at the age of 13 or younger<br />

• Boys are more likely than girls to report that they first had sexual<br />

intercourse at the age of 13 or younger (34% versus 16%, respectively)<br />

• 29% used neither a condom nor birth control pills the last time they<br />

had sexual intercourse. 42% used a condom without birth control pills.<br />

13% used birth control pills without a condom. 16% used both a condom<br />
