Many of you may remember Newhey resident Nigel Stott,
fondly known as ‘Mr Newhey’ or ‘Taxi Nigel’, who very sadly
passed away recently. Many local residents have been
asking if there could be a permanent memorial by which to
remember this very popular local character and on page 49,
Councillor Neil Butterworth presents his suggestion and
invites you all to comment on this. Keep your copy of
Streetwise handy throughout the month as the What’s On
Pages are packed with local events taking place in the next
few weeks. This includes a public inquiry into whether a
further 16 massive wind turbines should be built on Scout
Moor, commencing at 10am on 11th October. It will be
very helpful if as many individuals as possible can attend
the first day as this will help to highlight the level of public
concern.
Thanks to all the kind comments we have received over the
Summer about the magazines – it is clear that Streetwise
is well received by local residents and is considered to be
the only community magazine in the area.
