6.7.1.3 Parameter use<br />

IMEI<br />

See subclause 5.6.2 for the use of this parameter. The parameter shall not be included in the service<br />

request between the VLR and the MSC, but is mandatory in the service request from the MSC to the EIR.<br />

It is not included in the service response from the EIR to the MSC, but is mandatory in the service<br />

response from the MSC to the VLR on successful outcome.<br />

Equipment status<br />

See subclause 5.6.4 for the use of this parameter. This parameter is sent by the responder in case of<br />

successful outcome of the service.<br />

User error<br />

One of the following error causes defined in subclause 5.6.1 shall be sent by the user in case of<br />

unsuccessful outcome of the service, depending on the respective failure reason:<br />

- unknown equipment;<br />

This error is returned by the responder when the IMEI is not known in the EIR.<br />

- system failure;<br />

- unexpected data value.<br />

6.7.2 MAP_OBTAIN_IMEI service<br />

6.7.2.1 Definition<br />

This service is used between the VLR and the MSC to request the IMEI. If the IMEI is not available in the<br />

MSC, it is requested from the MS.<br />

The service is a confirmed service and consists of four service primitives.
