Fishing is permitted in the lakes and lagoons in Forest Park, except where restrictions are posted. Sledding is
permitted on Art Hill (in front of the Art Museum) during snowy weather, unless restrictions are posted.
Kennedy Forest is a great location for bird watching, and each year plays host to more than 200 species of
migratory warblers and other feathered friends.
Picnic and event permits are available through the St. Louis Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry at
314-289-5330. Forest Park is patrolled by a separate unit of the St. Louis mounted Police, headquartered at
Aviation Field in the southeast edge of the park. Please observe the 10 pm curfew in Forest Park. See the

Highlights of Forest Park:
Turtle Park
This unique children's play area features giant sculpted land turtles created by St. Louis artist Bob Cassily.
Mark C. Steinberg Memorial Skating Rink
This skating rink has been a popular attraction since 1957. One of the nation's largest outdoor skating rinks,
the facility offers ice skating during the winter and rollerskating during the summer. For information about

Forest Park Recreational Path
This 7.5-mile long path is popular with cyclists, roller-bladers, joggers and walkers. An exercise par-course is
located along the path at the north edge of the park. The path generally runs along the park's perimeter. A 2.2mile
inner path starts at Clayton Avenue and ends near the Kennedy Forest.
Lindell Pavilion
The facility offers a snack bar, golf pro shop, lockers and includes the office of Forest Park Forever.
Immediately north of the building are handball and racquetball courts.
The World’s Fair Pavilion
World's Fair Pavilion was built in 1909 as a gift to the people of St. Louis from the Louisiana Purchase
Exposition Committee. Located at the top of Government Hill, the pavilion offers some of the most glorious
vistas in Forest Park. Recently renovated with private funds, the Pavilion is an ideal location for special events.

Jewel Box
The Jewel Box has enchanted visitors since 1936.The building is surrounded by rose gardens, lily ponds,
statuary and monuments. Seasonal floral displays also are popular indoor attractions.
Forest Park Boat House
The Forest Park Boat House at Post-Dispatch Lake offers authentic Gondola cruises through the canals into
the Grand Basin. Paddle boats and canoes also are available for rent. A casual lakeside café and small
children's play area make this a great destination for families.
