Fishing is permitted in the lakes and lagoons in Forest Park, except where restrictions are posted. Sledding is<br />
permitted on Art Hill (in front <strong>of</strong> the Art Museum) during snowy weather, unless restrictions are posted.<br />
Kennedy Forest is a great location for bird watching, and each year plays host to more than 200 species <strong>of</strong><br />
migratory warblers and other feathered friends.<br />
Picnic and event permits are available through the St. Louis Department <strong>of</strong> Parks, Recreation and Forestry at<br />
314-289-5330. Forest Park is patrolled by a separate unit <strong>of</strong> the St. Louis mounted Police, headquartered at<br />
Aviation Field in the southeast edge <strong>of</strong> the park. Please observe the 10 pm curfew in Forest Park. See the<br />

Highlights <strong>of</strong> Forest Park:<br />
Turtle Park<br />
This unique children's play area features giant sculpted land turtles created by St. Louis artist Bob Cassily.<br />
Mark C. Steinberg Memorial Skating Rink<br />
This skating rink has been a popular attraction since 1957. One <strong>of</strong> the nation's largest outdoor skating rinks,<br />
the facility <strong>of</strong>fers ice skating during the winter and rollerskating during the summer. For information about<br />

Forest Park Recreational Path<br />
This 7.5-mile long path is popular with cyclists, roller-bladers, joggers and walkers. An exercise par-course is<br />
located along the path at the north edge <strong>of</strong> the park. The path generally runs along the park's perimeter. A 2.2mile<br />
inner path starts at Clayton Avenue and ends near the Kennedy Forest.<br />
Lindell Pavilion<br />
The facility <strong>of</strong>fers a snack bar, golf pro shop, lockers and includes the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> Forest Park Forever.<br />
Immediately north <strong>of</strong> the building are handball and racquetball courts.<br />
The World’s Fair Pavilion<br />
World's Fair Pavilion was built in 1909 as a gift to the people <strong>of</strong> St. Louis from the Louisiana Purchase<br />
Exposition Committee. Located at the top <strong>of</strong> Government Hill, the pavilion <strong>of</strong>fers some <strong>of</strong> the most glorious<br />
vistas in Forest Park. Recently renovated with private funds, the Pavilion is an ideal location for special events.<br />

Jewel Box<br />
The Jewel Box has enchanted visitors since 1936.The building is surrounded by rose gardens, lily ponds,<br />
statuary and monuments. Seasonal floral displays also are popular indoor attractions.<br />
Forest Park Boat House<br />
The Forest Park Boat House at Post-Dispatch Lake <strong>of</strong>fers authentic Gondola cruises through the canals into<br />
the Grand Basin. Paddle boats and canoes also are available for rent. A casual lakeside café and small<br />
children's play area make this a great destination for families.<br />
