Grand Tower is a city rich in history that is inseparable from the history <strong>of</strong> the mighty Mississippi River. For a<br />

step back in time and a glimpse <strong>of</strong> the life experiences along the mighty Mississippi River, stop by this newly<br />

opened museum and explore.<br />

Old Chicago and Eastern <strong>Illinois</strong> Depot<br />

The old Chicago and Eastern <strong>Illinois</strong> Depot has been renovated and is sponsored by the Franklin Area<br />

Historical Society. The museum has veterans' memorabilia from the Civil War, Spanish-American War, World<br />

Wars I and II, Korean War and Vietnam War. A soldier’s memorial sits in front <strong>of</strong> the depot and a coal miner’s<br />

memorial wall is east <strong>of</strong> the museum as well.<br />
