The permanent exhibit features life-size wax figures <strong>of</strong> African-Americans with a mo connection, including Dred<br />
Scott and George Washington Carver. There also is a scale model <strong>of</strong> a slave ship, an authentic slave cabin,<br />
historical documents and artifacts. The museum hosts traveling exhibitions.<br />

The Holocaust Museum and Learning Center (HMLC) is a 5,000-square-foot education and exhibition facility<br />
dedicated to teaching the important history and lessons <strong>of</strong> the Holocaust and preserving the memory <strong>of</strong> the six<br />
million Jews who perished. The exhibition is designed with a focus on the experiences <strong>of</strong> survivors who<br />
immigrated to St. Louis. In addition, the HMLC sponsors numerous programs that are open to the public,<br />
including a monthly film series, an annual Holocaust Remembrance Day commemoration, lectures by<br />
internationally recognized speakers, and outstanding temporary exhibitions.<br />

The National Cemetery, south <strong>of</strong> the park, is the 4 th largest U.S. cemetery in the nation. This 424 acre park<br />
was once part <strong>of</strong> an Army Post that was active from 1826-1946. Converted to a historical park in 1950,<br />
restored buildings include the Laborer’s House, the stable and two powder magazines.<br />
