Shootout
WiTH the intricate structure of the
Hive serving up a ready-made set of
abstracts and detail shots, it’s easy
enough to grab those and move on.
But Paula showed her willingness to think
outside the box. “I wanted to explore a
different take on this much photographed
structure, so I decided on an in-camera
multiple-exposure to show the link
between The Hive and the wildflower
meadow growing next to it,” she reveals.
The end result is actually a construct of
four separate pictures, Paula explains:
“The first two images I took were of the
Hive from the side, overlapping them
slightly; and the last two images were
of the wildflowers.”
Be more street
Try approaching garden
photography with the eye
of a street photographer.
Keep an eye out for
unusual juxtapositions.
If there’s a splash of rain,
even better: look for
people with umbrellas
and raincoats that match
the colours of flowers.
