CHILD FOCUS
Sunshine Childcare
praised for commitment
to children
At Sunshine Childcare we offer a
nurturing environment where the values of
whānaungatanga (family) are welcomed
and encouraged.
With our parents and
whānau we empower
tamariki to
become leaders in their learning,
developing resilience,
self-worth and strong sense of
self and belonging. Individual
cultures and backgrounds are
an accepted part of each child
and their whānau and we endeavour
to incorporate these
in learning. We focus on parent
aspirations and the interests,
urges and dispositions of tamariki.
“We love Sunshine on Sunshine.
The teachers truly care
about our child and treat us as
part of a very special family”
– Emma.
Our qualified and experienced
teachers value each child
as taonga and are committed
to teaching and learning that
provides positive outcomes
for tamariki. This means our
tamariki know they are valued,
their learning is visible
and they grow in social competence
and self-management,
being able to clearly articulate
what they want and need, and
supported to take care of their
needs and their belongings
with confidence. Tamariki are
respected and consulted and
given choices. Questioning
and taking risks is encouraged
and success celebrated. Our
learning environment is safe,
offers challenge and interest
that invites tamariki to explore.
Our park-like natural outdoor
space enables kids to just
be kids, playing in trees and
puddles, and have heaps of
fun.
Our recent Education Review
visit was very pleased
with our strong commitment to
our bicultural partners and our
strength in providing quality
learning and care for our tamariki.
“Sunshine on Vickery is
amazing Truly care about
kids!” – Seval.
We have two centres in Te
Rapa. Our Sunshine Ave centre
has separate rooms that caters
for each age. Our Vickery
Street centre is mixed age, with
separate areas for under twos
and over twos. We are a little
pocket of sunshine in the heart
of industrial Te Rapa. Come
and experience the difference!
