Patricia (Tricia) Smith<br />
Tricia attended nursing school in Springfield, Missouri and<br />
graduated in 1972 and have had wonderful opportunities in nursing.<br />
Tricia attended Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee<br />
and became a certified nurse-midwife. Tricia enjoys working with<br />
women’s health in many settings in the state of Tennessee. After<br />
moving to Louisville, Tricia worked at the University of Louisville<br />
Hospital in psychiatry and in the Obstetrical units eventually<br />
becoming a House Supervisor. Tricia worked there for over 25 years.<br />
Tricia worked in the GYN-OB clinic at U of L for a year during that<br />
time as the Clinic Director. In 2002 Tricia moved to the Kentucky Board of Nursing as an<br />
Investigator in the Investigative Branch and transitioned to the Compliance Branch in 2012.<br />
Michael E. Townsend<br />
Recovery Kentucky Administrator<br />
Kentucky Housing Corporation<br />
Mike Townsend serves as Recovery Kentucky Administrator<br />
with the Kentucky Housing Corporation. He has worked for the<br />
corporation for the past thirteen years. Recovery Kentucky is a<br />
statewide initiative to build and operate fourteen 100-bed addiction<br />
recovery centers throughout Kentucky for men and women needing<br />
long term substance abuse recovery and housing support. The<br />
Recovery Kentucky programs are modeled after The Healing Place of Louisville and The<br />
Hope Center of Lexington.<br />
Prior to Mr. Townsend’s employment with the Kentucky Housing Corporation, he served as<br />
State Director for the Division of Substance Abuse within the Cabinet for Health and Family<br />
Services for 25 years.<br />
He is a graduate of Centre College and graduated from the University of Louisville’s Kent<br />
School of Social Work where he received his Master’s of Science in Social Work.<br />

2018 KNA Legislative Day at the Capitol<br />
Tuesday, February 6, 2018<br />
9 am – 2 pm • 11 am – Noon – Rally in the Rotunda<br />
Please join us for the 2018 KNA Legislative Day in Frankfort on February<br />
6. We will have a Rally in the Capitol Rotunda with activities before and<br />
after. The day will be filled with education sessions for nurses and nursing<br />
students concerning the legislative process and the importance of being<br />
politically active. Continuing Education Units will be provided. KNA will<br />
offer “Nursing Advocacy-Your Voice Counts” briefings to KNA chapters,<br />
nurse meetings and nursing schools prior to the 2018 Legislative Session.<br />
