KNA Northeastern Chapter
We, the Northeastern Chapter, are celebrating our third year as a KNA chapter The purpose
of the chapter is to improve health for the communities we serve and inspire nurses to
achieve nursing excellence. During this past year we had officer elections in which Christa
Thompson was elected President along with Shelly Brown elected as Vice President,
Michelle Rayburn elected as Secretary, and Phelan Bailey elected as Treasurer. During the
June 6 meeting the immediate past President, Michelle Rayburn, was awarded a certificate
of appreciation for her hard work in the chapter.
Earlier this year our chapter was awarded a KNA grant fund to offer CPR training events. The
grant money allowed the chapter to purchase CPR manikins with AED trainer, valves, and
instructional media. The CPR training events targets businesses,
churches, and other large groups for no charge with hopes to
expand to the general public. The events were led by the AHA BLS
Instructor chapter leader on a volunteer basis. Chapter members
are encouraged to participate in the public offerings.
The chapter will be meeting every quarter with the next meeting
to be scheduled in September in Morehead, Kentucky. In the
September meeting we will continue to plan community service
events, holiday food/toy drives, fundraisers, and focus on ways
to enhance chapter engagement/recruitment/retention. You
