Nightingale Tribute<br />
The Nightingale Tribute is a ceremony or<br />
service to honor any deceased Registered<br />
Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse<br />
(LPN) for their years of commitment to their<br />
patients and for their dedication to nursing.<br />
This meaningful tribute is to be given by a<br />
designated nurse colleague or friend. This is<br />
a complimentary service to all nurses, KNA<br />
members and non-members.<br />
The tribute may include the lighting of<br />
a white candle; a brief summary of the<br />
individual’s nursing career; special readings and<br />
the presentation of a white rose on the casket<br />
or urn. The Nightingale Tribute service lasts a<br />
short time and can be placed anywhere in the<br />
funeral home visitation or service appropriate<br />
to the traditions and beliefs of the recipient’s faith.<br />
A family member, friend or funeral home director may contact the Kentucky<br />
<strong>Nurses</strong> <strong>Association</strong> (KNA) to schedule a Nightingale Tribute Service.<br />
All deceased nurses names will be listed in the annual state Nightingale<br />
Tribute and the annual American <strong>Nurses</strong> <strong>Association</strong> Nightingale Tribute book.<br />
