The Executive Regulations relating to Law<br />
No. 4 classifies types’ of establishments or<br />
projects that must be undergo an<br />
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)<br />
based upon the following main principles:<br />
a. Type of activity performed by the<br />
establishment.<br />
b. Extent of natural resources exploitation.<br />
c. Location of the establishment.<br />
d. Type of energy used to operate the<br />
establishment<br />
The EEAA developed a flexible screening<br />
system to manage the EIA projects in order<br />
to use limited economic and technical<br />
resources in the best possible way, by<br />
classifying the projects into three groups<br />
reflecting different levels of EIA according to<br />
severity of possible environmental impacts:<br />
a. The "A" list - projects for establishments/<br />
projects with minor environmental<br />
impact.<br />
b. The "B" list - projects for establishments/<br />
projects which may result in substantial<br />
environmental impact.<br />
The "C" list - projects for establishments/ projects<br />
which require complete EIA due to their potential<br />
impacts.<br />
