And Rolls Royce is not without its challenges, but it’s moving and I am happy with the progress there. Technology is playing a crucial role in every field of business, so how are you responding to this current move towards that in all aspects of your business? We are just about to embark on a huge redevelopment on the BMW and MINI side, starting early part of next year. Part of that redevelopment will be to segment the BMW brand further. With that we will be able to showcase the new technology within the cars here, including the Connected Drive aspects of BMW for sure. We have some limitations currently just due to the technical aspects of being able to use Connected Drive in Bahrain at the movement. We are hoping to work with the government in order to develop this properly. With that technology, cars now can basically self-diagnose so we can connect to the car you are driving, remotely from here and give an estimated diagnosis on the vehicle. This facility is already live in Europe, we are hoping that we will able to get it here. The biggest advantage in terms of technology, though, will be in the showroom that our customers will see next year. We’re going to be moving high-end on the BMW side, so our 7 series, our 6 series, and our new 8 series which is coming next year, will move into a dedicated showroom, which deals just with the high end of the market. We also do exceptionally well with our M Performance products here in Bahrain, so we’re going to give that dedicated space as well, and the rest of the range will remain in the main showroom. The technological advancement will sit on the after sales side, so we are going to build a new after sales facility on the side of the building, facing the Jaguar and Land Rover side. That will be a drive-in service department. Rather than leave your car outside to come in and sit down with the service advisor at the desk, you will now be able to drive your car in straight into a consultation lounge, where the service advisor will be with you with an i-pad. Do a consultation on what your cars needs are, put the car on ramp with you if you so desire and we can agree on the work that needs to be done. This is something that is very new. We are the only one in Bahrain that I am aware off. Certainly, Euro motors will the first dealer in Bahrain to have that service. We are just working on the final details of that now. We are really looking forward to bringing that to Bahrain, particularly in the Summer months. The plan allows you to be able to drive your car in for a minor service onto a ramp, but you won’t know it’s a ramp. You can have some refreshments and have a walk around the dealership, and when you come back the car will be on the ramp clean and ready to go! “Our customers can expect to see our revised new, updated Euro Motors website in 2018. They can look to visit us on our Facebook and Instagram pages." You talked about your Vision 2020, can you share with us what that is? It’s always about volume. So there is a volume aspiration from our BMW partners which I think is challenging but achievable. Like with all of our brands - they all produce motor cars that they need us to sell. This is the relationship we have, but the vision for me is to deliver unrivalled service in a stateof-the-art facility that our customers can actually visit even when they don’t want to buy a car. I really want to make our facilities here in Bahrain a go-to destination for our customers. Even if you are out with your children for a day and you’re looking for something to do with them, bring them along and say: Let’s have a look at the new cars, let’s have a look the facilities. That’s really where we’re going with it. The Ferrari, Maserati or Rolls Royce, are all a work of art, and they shouldn’t be kept locked away. So my goal and our aim is to provide a go-to destination for our customers when they are buying a car or when they’re not buying a car. We want to see people on a daily basis in these businesses. We want them to interact with our staff and really feel that they are a part of the Euro Motors family. Would you like to send a message across to our readers? I think the message that I would like to send to our readers is that we are here and we are open for business. For sure it is a difficult climate at the moment but it won’t always be this way. I am a new General Manager with a new managing director Mr Majid Al Zayani. We’re both in new roles in the business , although Mr Majid is part of the family and I has been involved with the business a long time. I have taken the last 3 months just to really have a deep dive into the business and look at what we need to do for our customers and staff going forward. We are keen to do deals particularly for cars that we have in stock, so I would like customers to come and see us again. We have a fabulous new facility for Ferrari and Maserati so I would like customers to come and see that. It’s the biggest and best in GCC at the moment, so customers should come and have a look at that and just give us an opportunity to show them what we have. We are looking to maintain and develop relationships with all of our customers past and present, very much looking to move into the digital space. This is probably the biggest difference I found in Bahrain to where we are in Europe. This digital proposition hasn’t been maximised. Most businesses are moving on, but the motor trade in generally has been probably a little bit behind. Our customers can expect to see our revised new, updated Euro Motors website in 2018. They can look to visit us on our Facebook and Instagram pages. So the message that I am sending across to everyone is that we are open for business, we are open do new deals. It is really exciting times with the redevelopments that we’ve just completed and the redevelopments that we’ve got planned! So come along engage with us.
