The Star Latest Christchurch news at www.star.kiwi Thursday November 30 2017 11 News Walk of Stars for city • By Andrew King CHRISTCHURCH IS set to get its own version of the ‘Hollywood Stars’ in a new initiative by the City Mission. The social service agency is offering ‘stars’ that will be placed in the Cashel Mall from December 1. It is a way to generate money and to thank sponsors. The project is called “The Walk of Stars.” City Missioner Matthew Mark said it allowed them to shout loud and proud the wonderful people that keep their organisation going. “The opportunity to highlight who supports us on a regular basis is quite a privilege,” he said. It is the first time the City Mission has used the idea. “It has been well received and has been a lot of fun,” he said. So far 55 stars have been sold including nine out of the 10 $5000 gold stars available, he said. PHOTO: MARTIN HUNTER Friends find MKR final too hot to handle FOODIES Heather Andersen and Mitch MacDonald were unable to cook their way to victory in Monday’s My Kitchen Rules New Zealand grand-final. The Christchurch friends were beaten by five points by Wanaka’s Chris and Bex Wright, who walked away with the $100,000 prize with a score of 52 out of 60. The friends were dubbed the villains of season three, but said they were not as “awful” as viewers thought. “We feel so proud of making it through to the grand-final even though we didn’t come away with the win. Congratulations to Chris and Bex, it’s been great cooking against them and they certainly know their way around a kitchen,” Mr MacDonald said. The duo started on a high, but the title soon slipped from their grasp after they delivered a beef fillet main over-powered by onions. But Ms Andersen made her mark in the dessert round, with an L&P cheesecake dubbed the lightest the judges had ever eaten on the show – but it was not enough. PHOTO: MARTIN HUNTER The final, held at Auckland’s Gusto at the Grand, was judged by Pete Evans and Manu Feildel, with chefs Sean Connolly, Nadia Lim, Ray McVinnie and Tom Hishon on the tasting panel. The teams had to plate up four courses – an entree, fish dish, meat dish and a dessert. The season reached an average of 632,000 viewers each week.
