The private observatory "Astro" is
located in the district of Atsimondrano,
Analamanga region. This site is also
known as "Domaine Mamilaza". It is
on a easy to locate hill, thanks to the
inevitable inscription of Hollywood on
the hill: "Andoharanofotsy". After a more
or less sporty course, from Fokontany
Morarano Firaisana to the top of the
hill, enjoy the landscape, decorated with
rice fields, before continuing the paved
road leading to Astro! Once at the top,
treat yourself to a breathtaking view of
the city of thousands and the adventure
is just beginning!
Entertainment and science
To be amazed by the panoramic view
from 1300 metres above sea level is not
the only point of interest reserved for
the Ankadiefajoro site. You will now
have the opportunity to be closer to
the stars: observe life-size stars with
telescopes! Meet the constellations
like Scorpion, Cancer or Sagittarius!
Familiarise yourself with the solar
system! Contemplating the beauty
of nature (to the naked eye or with
material) and star gazing are the most
popular activities of visitors in general.
The observatory was inaugurated in
2005 by Professor Charles Ratsifaritana,
an astrophysicist. The initiative rested
on the idea of ​paying tribute to Albert
Einstein, father of modern physics,
with the main goal of popularising
astronomy in Madagascar. Certainly,
the aim is to inform and educate the
public (especially young people) about
this science and its value, but also to
raise awareness about environmental
issues. That's why visiting this site is
very informative and entertaining. With
time, this place has become more and
more a tourist destination where science
is taught differently. In December 2016,
a pavilion was named Pavilion Professor
Raoelina Andriambololona; ​an expert
in nuclear science and technology and
nanotechnology in Madagascar; then
a pedagogical laboratory was recently
set up within the site, inaugurated last
October.

mais également de le sensibiliser sur
les enjeux environnementaux. C’est
la raison pour laquelle la visite de
ce site s’avère très instructive et à
la fois divertissante. Avec le temps,
ce lieu est devenu de plus en plus
une destination touristique où on
enseigne la science autrement. En
décembre 2016, un pavillon a été
baptisé Pavillon Professeur Raoelina
Andriambololona, une pointure en
sciences et techniques nucléaires et
nanotechnologies à Madagascar ;
puis un laboratoire pédagogique a été
récemment mis en place au sein du
site, inauguré en octobre dernier.
