Sculptor
specialist of marine decoration
L’art de la sculpture peut
revêtir plusieurs formes
et la voie choisie par
Randrianarivelo Haja,
installé dans son atelier
de Behoririka, est celle de
l’univers marin. Gouvernails,
d’artiste, Randrianarivelo Haja a suivi
une formation de sculpteur avant de se
perfectionner, par une pratique quotidienne
depuis 25 ans. Un métier qui voit chaque
journée différer de celle de la veille. Une
pure passion.
Sculpting is above all creation. Creativity that
we perceive as soon as we set our eyes on these
objects of “marine decorations”. Passing through
rudders, inks but also small figurines of sailors,
discover the mastery of wood by Haja.
CRAFTS
From solid wood such as rosewood and other woods, he gives
shape to objects or pieces he has imagined and drawn. In the
Big Island, these sculptors are mostly big fans of art and wood.
Haja has specialised in the art of making marine decorations.
Family of artists, Randrianarivelo Haja, has his agility to
master the wood and his creativity from his family. It’s been 25
years since he has been sculpting objects of marine decorations.
Passionate about sculpture, he continues training to improve in
this art. Clever with his hands, a simple piece of wood becomes
a work of art. His statutes are singular and a unique style. The
time he puts in to sculpt them depends on his inspiration,
but once the work is finished, rare are those who come to his
workshop in Behoririka, without buying a decorative object.
