regulation 31.1.4, additional immersion suits of an appropriate size shall be provided at these locations for the<br />

number of persons normally on watch or working at those locations at any time.<br />

3.4 Immersion suits shall be so placed as to be readily accessible and their position shall be plainly<br />

indicated.<br />

3.5 The Immersion suits required by this regulation may be used to comply with the requirements of<br />

regulation 7.3.<br />

Regulation 33<br />

Survival craft embarkation and launching arrangements<br />

1 Cargo ship survival craft embarkation arrangements shall be so designed that lifeboats can be<br />

boarded and launched directly from the stowed position and davit-launched liferafts can be boarded and<br />

launched from a position immediately adjacent to the stowed position or from a position to which the liferaft is<br />

transferred prior to launching in compliance with the requirements of regulation 13.5.<br />

2 On cargo ships of 20,000 gross tonnage and upwards, lifeboats shall be capable of being launched,<br />

where necessary utilizing painters, with the ship making headway at speeds up to 5 knots in calm water.<br />

ARRANGEMENTS REQUIREMENTS<br />

Regulation 34<br />

All life-saving appliances and arrangements shall comply with the applicable requirements of the Code.<br />

Regulation 35<br />

Training manual and on-board training aids<br />

1 This regulation applies to all ships.<br />

SECTION V – MISCELLANEOUS<br />

2 A training manual complying with the requirements of paragraph 3 shall be provided in each crew<br />

mess room and recreation room or in each crew cabin.<br />

3 The training manual, which may comprise several volumes, shall contain instructions and information,<br />

in easily understood terms illustrated wherever possible, on the life-saving appliances provided in the ship<br />

and on the best methods of survival. Any part of such information may be provided in the form of audio-visual<br />

aids in lieu of the manual. The following shall be explained in detail:<br />

.1 donning of lifejackets, immersion suits and anti-exposure suits, as appropriate;<br />

.2 muster at the assigned stations;<br />

.3 boarding, launching, and clearing the survival craft and rescue boats, including, where<br />

applicable, use of marine evacuation systems;<br />

.4 method of launching from within the survival craft;<br />

.5 release from launching appliances;
