Natural feeding
Emerald Green Feeds is
the feed range produced
on our family farm
in the heart of rural
Lincolnshire. Although Emerald
Green Feeds is relatively new to
the industry in comparison to
some of the more established
larger feed companies in the
industry we have over 70 years’
experience in producing forage
feeds. The family have been
farming at Lodge Farm for over
100 years now and what started
out as a mixed arable and
livestock farm has now changed
to a purely arable farm growing
main grass and alfalfa for the
feed production side of the
business. Our grass drying
plant strikes up in early to
mid-April and shuts down in
late November, during that
time hundreds of tonnes of
grass and alfalfa feeds are
dried, packaged and sold.
The grass and alfalfa that we
us in the Emerald Green Feeds
range is all grown on the farm
and harvested by the team in
the field, as a family business
we are extremely conscientious
about ensuring the quality and
consistency of our feeds. We feel
we are fairly unique in the feed
business, well probably in any
business sector really; in the
fact that we handle the whole
process the feed goes through.
We are the farmers that grow
the crops, we harvest them and
return them to our drying plant
where we dry them for pelleting
or chop, we then bag and bale
the products on site ready to
be delivered to the customers.
It is even us on the stands at
the shows and events we go to,
we don’t employ people to do
this for us as we so passionate
about the feeds we grow we hope
that this comes across when we
meet the customers, we also get
great satisfaction from being
able to listen to the needs of the
individual customers and strive
to develop solutions for peoples
feeding problems and queries.
Because we have full ownership
of the process we have total
traceability of all of our products,
even down to the time it was
packaged.
All of the products in the
Emerald Green Feeds range are
100% natural with no added
nasties, although we aren’t an
organic farm we do not use
any pesticides on the grass and
alfalfa so when you are feeding
your horse Emerald Green Feeds
you know you feeding as nature
intended, completely natural
forage feeds.
We are very lucky with some of

about the products in our feed
range:
Emerald Green Feeds Grass
Pellets are a natural high value
feed, the harvesting and drying
processes enable to the naturally
occurring vitamins and minerals,
essential to your horses’ health
and general condition, to be
locked in. Feeding Grass Pellets
means that your horse is able to
benefit from fresh grass all year
round.
Alfalfa Pellets are ideal for both
young and old horses, they are
very palatable, high in fibre and
low in sugar and starch, this
combination results in a steady
release of digestible energy.
Alfalfa is well documented as
being ideal for horses prone to
laminitis as well as those that
suffer with stomach ulcers.
Highly nutritious, palatable
chop made from the best quality
fescue grass. Grass-tastic is an
excellent feed for helping to
build condition as well as helping
toward maintaining a healthy
gut, improved coat shine and
general well-being. Grass-tastic
contains no other ingredients,
just 100% grass.
Alfalfa-mazing contains all
the key nutrients and vitamins
needed for your horse or
pony to thrive. Containing
exceptional levels of
calcium Alfalfa-mazing
is the perfect feed for the
growth and maintenance
of bone strength. Its high
protein level promotes
muscle growth and
repair coupled with
Alfalfa-mazing’s superior
fibre content this helps
maintain all-round health
and fitness for your horse or
pony.
Meadow Magic Pellets are a
high fibre, low sugar and starch
feed aimed primarily (but not
exclusively) at those horses and
pony’s which have any of the
following traits or conditions:
Good doer, laminitis, Cushing’s
disease, stomach ulcers and
obesity. Meadow Magic is 100%
Alfalfa free, which makes it an
excellent alternative for those
horses which can have an adverse
reaction to, or dislike of Alfalfa,
but require a very high fibre and
low sugar/starch feed. The pellets
are made from meadow grasses
solely grown for producing this
feed, which are cut at a similar
growth stage to that of hay to
achieve the desired nutritional
qualities.
