Also off to Badminton are second placed<br />

Piggy French and Vanir Kamira, Piggy<br />

commented that having seen how close the<br />

results were she obviously wishes she had<br />

gone a little quicker but added that Jonty’s<br />

win is great for the sport as so many people<br />

supported him last year to be able to keep<br />

the ride. Piggy also finished tenth with<br />

Quarrycrest Echo, both her rounds cross<br />

country stopped the clock at exactly the<br />

same time.<br />

A further 33 combinations competing in the<br />

prestigious Grantham Cup are Badminton<br />

bound. Including 11th placed Imogen Murray<br />

and the ever-consistent Ivar Gooden who<br />

were the second fastest combination in the<br />

class, picking up just 2.8 time penalties. Ros<br />

Canter picked up fifth place with Zenshera.<br />

The other three star section running in<br />

conjunction with the big class but for lesser<br />

experienced combinations or horses with less<br />

points was still highly competitive. Lauren<br />

Blades (nee Shannon) finished seventh with<br />

Jesmond Justice and Eliza Stoddart in eighth<br />

on Priorspark Opposition Free.<br />

Junior riders held their own in one of the two<br />

star sections. Newark based Lizzie Baugh<br />

and Quarry Man were faultless throughout,<br />

finishing on their dressage score of 28.4.<br />

In Open Intermediate under 21 Heidi Coy<br />

filled two of the top ten places. In sixth on<br />

Royal Fury and eighth aboard Carrigsean<br />

Tigerseye.<br />

Lauren Blades took Novice Section C riding<br />

Angela Schumann’s Rodnikova Dream. A<br />

homebred that Lauren is looking forward<br />

to quietly producing for Angela. While Ella<br />

Woodhead and Fernhill Playboy finished less<br />

than one penalty behind in second.<br />

Of course not many national classes go<br />

by without seeing Piggy Frenchs’ name<br />

in number one spot, this time it was in<br />

Intermediate Section J with Castletown<br />

Clover, giving herself a healthy 7.3 winning<br />

margin over second place.<br />

Imogen Murray was also seventh in this<br />

section on new ride Quinquaginta, owned<br />

and previously ridden by Jacky Beavan. This<br />

was the horses first Intermediate and just the<br />

second event for the pair together.<br />
