GREAT WITCHINGHAM
23-25 APRIL • REPORT BY ARABELLA CLEGG
PHOTOS BY EQUIPIXUK.COM
Those who opted to enter and travel
to Great Witchingham were winners
before they even started as the event
was to go ahead unlike many other
unfortunate events that have had to cancel
before or abandon during.
The event ran from BE80T to advanced
intermediate as well as two CIC one star
sections.
Piggy French had seven horses competing across
the levels, she picked up wins in the BE100 open
and one of the 1* sections. As well as second
and sixth place in the open intermediates with
Quarrycrest Echo and Cooley Monsoon.
The BE100 plus was won by Keysoe based Sarah
Bullimore and Starbucks I on a score that had
her out of reach of any other competitors in the
section. After scoring 20.3 in the dressage she
was able to add 5.2 penalties across the country
to finish on 25.5 which was still almost eight
penalties ahead of second place. Sarah was also
sixth in the intermediate novice aboard Quimira.
Simon Grieve who had six horses to compete
from BE100 to intermediate had the perfect pre
badminton prep with Drumbila Metro by topping
the open intermediate section C. With all of his
horses having great runs, to include a second
place in the open novice and third in the BE100.
There was only one pole rolled in the show
jumping between all his horses.
Young rider Felicity Collins is certainly seeing
herself consistently appearing in the top
placings. This time around she was second in
the intermediate novice on the 11 year old Just
Amazing III. The younger horses Shadow Chanel
and Billy Memphis had good runs in the novice
classes, finishing fifth and eighth respectively.
As well as a nice steady double clear on her top
horse RSH Contend Or in open intermediate
section C.
