I
am so excited to have the opportunity to share
a part of my eventing journey with Equestrian
Life readers, so welcome to my little team
here at Roman Bank Eventing! I’m super lucky
to be able to work from home at our family run
riding school/pony club centre, based in Norfolk.
I absolutely love my job! Working from home also
allows me to put the time and dedication needed
into my small string of eventers, whom I compete
most weekends throughout the season, through the
levels up to BE Intermediate-Novice and FEI CIC*
With so many events around the country being
abandoned due to the rubbish weather, I feel
extremely fortunate that we’ve been able to get
our early season runs in and kickstart our event
season off in style! Thanks to my fantastic sponsor
British Horse Feeds, the horses are fuelled by fibrebeet
and have all come out of the winter this year
fit and glowing and ready to get going! My most
competitive ride at the moment – Ballyengland
Twilight, started the season off for me with a
Novice run at Oasby. It was a wet, cold day and the
lorry got stuck in the mud! Nethertheless, it was
great to finally be back out competing again. I was
proud of my boy that he picked back up, pretty
much where we had left off last year!
We then made the step up to Intermediate-Novice
at Great Witchingham. We’re really green at this
it was great
to finally
be back out
competing
again. I was
proud of my
boy that he
picked back
up, pretty
much where
we had left off
last year!
level still but I was pleased with how Ballyengland
Twilight tried in a trickier Intermediate
dressage test. Although it wasn’t our day for the
showjumping phase, he went on to give a solid
performance in the cross country for a second clear
for 2018. On returning to the lorry park, I realised
I had ridden round with my money in my breeches
pocket and lost £40! Highs and lows of eventing
aye!?
Next, we head to “Big Bad Belton” which I am very
exited about as it’s one of my all-time favourites
in our eventing calendar! I have recently been
appointed as a brand ambassador for BEDE Events,
which I’m really enjoying! I’m especially looking
forward to searching for top-tips, watching many
of the world’s greatest riders in our sport compete
for the Grantham Cup in the 3* and with 200 trade
stands there, I’ll be shopping for some bargains!!
It’s then a quick turnaround to HorseHeath. This
time with another of my rides – Alice Springs, who
is a personal favourite of my long-term supporters
Equipix UK Equestrian Photos. I can’t thank
Equipix UK enough for the time they spend with
me, taking such beautiful photos of my horses in
action!
It’ll be interesting to see how our next few events
unfold! - Coral
