Summer <strong>2017</strong><br />
This summer, get your children off<br />
the computer and out of the house.<br />
They can learn to dance, equestrian<br />
care, athletic enhancement, basic<br />
farming, and more. Listed are a few local<br />
offerings for summer fun.<br />
PARKLAND<br />
Parkland Parks and Recreation<br />
Department offers summer camps for<br />
both elementary and middle school<br />
children. Resident and non-resident<br />
registrations will remain open until<br />
camps begin in <strong>June</strong> or until full.<br />
The weekly camps begin <strong>June</strong> 12 or 19,<br />
depending on the camp, and run through<br />
August 11.<br />
Kids Camp – For kindergarten through<br />
fifth grade, Kids Camp offers a wide<br />
variety of age appropriate games and<br />
activities including field trips in the tricounty<br />
area.<br />
Teen Camp - For sixth through eighth<br />
grade, Teen Camp also offers many<br />
games and fun activities with offsite visits<br />
to explore places in Broward, Miami-<br />
Dade, and Palm Beach counties.<br />
5678 Dance Camp - Performing Arts<br />
Camp offers instructional classes in jazz,<br />
ballet, tap, hip-hop, cheer, lyrical, and<br />
musical theater.<br />
Camp E.L.I.T.E. – “Exceptional Leaders<br />
In Training Everyday” prepares athletes,<br />
age 7 to 14, to be exceptional on and<br />
off the field through unique performance<br />
enhancement techniques. Football,<br />
soccer, volleyball, and basketball in<br />
Pines Park are offered.<br />

CORAL SPRINGS<br />
Coral Springs publishes The Summer<br />
Fun Guide with everything the city<br />
offers, including its popular Kamp<br />
Kool sessions, as well as camps at<br />
various locations for sports, dance, art,<br />
etiquette, and special needs.<br />
Residents can get the guide and<br />
applications at the Coral Springs<br />
Gymnasium, City Hall in the Mall, Coral<br />
Square Mall, the Coral Springs Aquatic<br />
Complex and Tennis Center of Coral<br />
Springs, the Cypress Park Tennis Center,<br />
and City Hall on West Sample Road.<br />

COCONUT CREEK<br />
Summer Day Camp - Coconut Creek<br />
offers this camp week days, <strong>June</strong> 19<br />
through August 11, from 7:30am until<br />
6pm. To attend, children must be born<br />
on or between September 1, 2003<br />
through September 1, 2011.<br />
All activities are at the city Recreation<br />
Complex, call 954-956-1580, or<br />
at the Community Center, call<br />
954-545-6670. To register online you<br />
must have a Wetrac account, which<br />
can be set up by visiting either city<br />
complex.<br />
BROWARD COUNTY<br />
Nature Detectives – For kids<br />
ages 8 to 11 at Fern Forest<br />
Nature Center. Weekly sessions<br />
starting <strong>June</strong> 19 through August<br />
4, from 9am until noon. Daily<br />
topics include exploration and<br />
understanding of the different plant<br />
and wildlife communities in Fern<br />
Forest. Cost is $75 per child for the<br />

register in person at the nature center.<br />
Horse Camp – Located at Tradewinds<br />
Park Stables, equestrian camp is an<br />
opportunity for children, ages 9 to 16,<br />
to get experience caring for horses on<br />
a daily basis. Also riding instruction,<br />
grooming, saddling, horse care/<br />
maintenance, tack and equipment,<br />
and more. Offered Mondays through<br />
Thursdays starting <strong>June</strong> 12, the fee is<br />

Junior Farmers Camp – Kids from 5<br />
to 8 years old are given an introduction<br />
to basic farming techniques as well<br />
as contact with the park’s barnyard<br />
animals. Half-day sessions are from<br />
8:30am to noon and from 12:30 to 4pm.<br />
Children may participate in as many<br />
camps as desired. The cost is $40 per<br />
session. Offered Mondays to Thursdays,<br />
<strong>June</strong> 12-15, <strong>June</strong> 19-22, and<br />
<strong>June</strong> 26-29. Registration is required.<br />
