This summer, get your children off
the computer and out of the house.
They can learn to dance, equestrian
care, athletic enhancement, basic
farming, and more. Listed are a few local
offerings for summer fun.
PARKLAND
Parkland Parks and Recreation
Department offers summer camps for
both elementary and middle school
children. Resident and non-resident
registrations will remain open until
camps begin in June or until full.
The weekly camps begin June 12 or 19,
depending on the camp, and run through
August 11.
Kids Camp – For kindergarten through
fifth grade, Kids Camp offers a wide
variety of age appropriate games and
activities including field trips in the tricounty
area.
Teen Camp - For sixth through eighth
grade, Teen Camp also offers many
games and fun activities with offsite visits
to explore places in Broward, Miami-
Dade, and Palm Beach counties.
5678 Dance Camp - Performing Arts
Camp offers instructional classes in jazz,
ballet, tap, hip-hop, cheer, lyrical, and
musical theater.
Camp E.L.I.T.E. – “Exceptional Leaders
In Training Everyday” prepares athletes,
age 7 to 14, to be exceptional on and
off the field through unique performance
enhancement techniques. Football,
soccer, volleyball, and basketball in
Pines Park are offered.

CORAL SPRINGS
Coral Springs publishes The Summer
Fun Guide with everything the city
offers, including its popular Kamp
Kool sessions, as well as camps at
various locations for sports, dance, art,
etiquette, and special needs.
Residents can get the guide and
applications at the Coral Springs
Gymnasium, City Hall in the Mall, Coral
Square Mall, the Coral Springs Aquatic
Complex and Tennis Center of Coral
Springs, the Cypress Park Tennis Center,
and City Hall on West Sample Road.

COCONUT CREEK
Summer Day Camp - Coconut Creek
offers this camp week days, June 19
through August 11, from 7:30am until
6pm. To attend, children must be born
on or between September 1, 2003
through September 1, 2011.
All activities are at the city Recreation
Complex, call 954-956-1580, or
at the Community Center, call
954-545-6670. To register online you
must have a Wetrac account, which
can be set up by visiting either city
complex.
BROWARD COUNTY
Nature Detectives – For kids
ages 8 to 11 at Fern Forest
Nature Center. Weekly sessions
starting June 19 through August
4, from 9am until noon. Daily
topics include exploration and
understanding of the different plant
and wildlife communities in Fern
Forest. Cost is $75 per child for the

Horse Camp – Located at Tradewinds
Park Stables, equestrian camp is an
opportunity for children, ages 9 to 16,
to get experience caring for horses on
a daily basis. Also riding instruction,
grooming, saddling, horse care/
maintenance, tack and equipment,
and more. Offered Mondays through
Thursdays starting June 12, the fee is

Junior Farmers Camp – Kids from 5
to 8 years old are given an introduction
to basic farming techniques as well
as contact with the park’s barnyard
animals. Half-day sessions are from
8:30am to noon and from 12:30 to 4pm.
Children may participate in as many
camps as desired. The cost is $40 per
session. Offered Mondays to Thursdays,
June 12-15, June 19-22, and
June 26-29. Registration is required.
