National School Nutrition Employee
Week is May 1 – May 5, with May 5
being School Lunch Hero Employee
Day. We at WMS appreciate all our
nutritional services staff for their hard
work and dedication in providing
nutritious meals to our students.
May 1 – May 5 is National Teacher
Appreciation Week. We are very
fortunate to have amazing teachers at
WMS that are dedicated to providing a
wonderful education to our students.
Please be sure to show how much you
appreciate your teachers and nutrition
services staff during this week.
Testing continues during the month of
May. FSA Math for 6th grade is May 1
and May 2. FSA Science for 8th grade
only is May 3 with make up testing from
May 4 to May 5. The EOC for Algebra,
7th and 8th grades, is on May 8 and
May 9. The EOC for Geometry, 8th
grade only, is on May 8 and May 9. The
Civics EOC, 7th grade only, is on May 15
with make up testing the May 16 – 19.
The Spanish Final is scheduled for May
31 – June 6.
The 8th Grade Picnic will be on May 16

at Tradewinds Park. There is a nominal
fee for this event to cover transportation
to and from the school, food, and other
activities. Payment should be made
online and your 8th grade student
will need to return the permission slip
to participate. Please visit the WMS

During the week of May 15, the PTA
will be hosting a School Spirit Week
culminating with our first Wolf-a-
Palooza on May 19. This is student
only event and begins at 9:30am.
Each grade will participate separately
thoughout the day. The cost is $25 for
access to games/activities or $35 for
access to games/activities, sweet treat,
and a homework pass. To register, visit
WestgladesPTA.com. There are no
refunds or exchanges.
In sports, congratulations to our Lady
Wolf athletic teams for making the
playoffs in all sports during the 2016 -
2017 season. The Sports Banquet will
be on May 19.
The Band will have its Spring Concert
on May 18, from 7 to 8:15pm at
MSDHS. Family Mini Golf Night will be
on May 25 at Monster Golf from 7 to
9pm. The Spring Orchestra and Chorus
Concert is on May 31, from 7 to 8:30pm
in the WMS auditorium.

It’s the end of the year and what a great
year it has been. Last month we featured
our performing arts students, this month
we will highlight our athletes.
The Forest Glen Middle School boys
basketball and flag football teams
each finished their outstanding regular

seasons as the Broward County Schools
Division 1 Champions. The FGMS boys
basketball team finished the regular
season undefeated with a 10 – 0
record. The FGMS boys flag football
team ended with a 6 –1 record. The
Wildcats were led by head basketball
coach Carlos Garcia and head flag
football coach Theron Kenderick. As a
formula for success Coaches Garcia
and Kenderick demanded complete
focus from their players in practice and
during the games. But, more importantly,
they stressed to their players that,
as students athletes and leaders of
FGMS, academics required the same
importance.
This months activities are: the Athletic
Banquet on May 25 at 6pm; Career
Day on May 26; Beginning Band
Concert on May 31 at 6pm; Band
Concert (Honors, Symphonic, Jazz and
Wildcat Bands) on June 1 at 6:30pm;
and Student Government Leadership
Banquet on June 6.
